Straight From the Monkey's Mouth

Both of my boys make me laugh every single day, but lately, Monkey has been coming up with some good ones, so I thought I'd share...

Andy and I sometimes refer to our sons with a top secret code. We call Monkey, No. 1 (because he was born first), and Spike, No. 2 (because he was born second). This comes in handy when we need to talk in front of them, without them knowing. Well, Monkey cracked our code. The other day Spike was crying (because he wanted to eat of course) and Monkey came up to me and said, "Mommy, number 2 needs you!"

About a week or two ago, I was cleaning the kitchen and dropped a plate. Monkey yelled out, "Oh crap!" I immediately asked him where he heard that word. He calmly told me "Pauline." Pauline happens to be his 88 year old great grandmother. And actually, for those of you who know her, it's really not that shocking. What did surprise me was the fact that he knew her first name!
Meemaw (a.k.a. Pauline) reading with the boys.

Finally, the three of us were on a walk. Spike absolutely loves dogs, so whenever we see one, we stop to watch it. There was a chocolate lab coming towards us, and the lady walking him was nice enough to let us pet him. After they had walked away, I made a comment about how beautiful the dog was. Monkey said, "And the girl was really pretty too!"
