Hello,
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of your comments and support. It means so much to both Andy and myself knowing we have such a supportive and loving group of people helping us through this process! Also, if anyone has questions that I don't cover in my posts, please feel free to ask them!
Today we had our final homestudy meeting at our house. I thought for sure our social worker would be just staring at us and taking notes, but it wasn't like that at all! We gave her a tour of our home, and then we just sat around the table and talked like old friends. We also finished up the rest of our paperwork, and chased our little monkey (our son's nickname...not an actual monkey) around the house. It was very comfortable and relaxed, and I'm glad we finished on such a positive note.
We also found out that we are 17th on the list for being matched with a baby. Although this position can fluctuate due to a number of factors, it was a lot closer than we expected. That means we should be matched with a baby in 3-7 months. Once that happens, we will have to complete a lot of paperwork and then travel to get our child 3.5-4.5 months later.
On a completely unrelated note, today marks the one week countdown for the start of my school year. Although I am not happy to be leaving Monkey Man, I realize not many people get 2 months to spend with their child. And we truly have made the most of our summer together. He is such a beautiful, happy little guy...I'm going to miss him terribly during the hours I will be working. But, I still have a week left, and am looking forward to squeezing in as much time as possible with him.
Take care!

Kara,
congrats on getting the homestudy complete.
I'm so glad to hear you are higher on the list than you expected and hope you get a referral quickly.
