Celebrating Spike!

Okay, before I get to our weekend festivities, I have to brag a little. As some of you know, I am a special education teacher. A big part of my job is writing yearly plans for my students and holding meetings with their parents. Although this is extremely important, I get nervous being in charge of these meetings. Today was my last one for the year! Yeah!!! I am feeling a lot more relaxed and looking forward to the summer with my boys.

All right...on to the important stuff. We had a great weekend with Monkey and Spike celebrating Spike's birthday. My brother is out of town, so we all went to stay at his condo in Chicago. We left Saturday morning, and spent the day in the city. Our first stop was Navy Pier. Unfortunately, many of the kiddie rides weren't open, but the boys loved watching the people, water, and especially the boats. We even found a train ride for them to go on.

Then we decided to take them to the Sears Tower (I know it's technically the Willis Tower, but I'm stubborn!). There was a bit of a wait, but everyone really enjoyed seeing the city from up high. As always, my guys kept an eye out for any trains they could see from up there!

Here are the boys waiting in line. Luckily this was just before we made it to the elevator ride to the top. They were tired of waiting!!

We went back to Uncle Jeff's for a bit and headed out to dinner at Rain*forest Ca*fe. I'd never been to that place, but boy was it intense! There were some mixed reactions by our kids. Monkey was scared of the moving animals, and Spike couldn't get enough. But there was also a huge fish tank that was a big hit with both the boys.

Everyone passed out when we got back to Uncle Jeff's. It was such an amazing day with my family!

What a fun little treat for you guys! Olive rode that same train when we were there in Nov. :)

What a fun little get away! It's cool to have an Uncle Jeff who leaves town without his keys!

It sounds like such a fun way to celebrate Spike! The picture of the two of them looking down from the Willis Tower made my stomach flip--yikes! I'm glad you had your last meeting. Bring on summer!

Looks like a fun trip and a great way to celebrate! I like how all four of you have on sunglasses in that pic - you all look so cool.
