Last weekend we kicked off the celebration by carving pumpkins. We really wanted to go to a pumpkin patch, but we all managed to get sick, and never made it there. We ended up buying some pumpkins and carving them together instead. It was the first time we had done this as a family and it was really fun. There were mixed reactions to the pumpkin guts. Monkey wanted nothing to do with them, but Spike dug in. Typical! The end result was pretty good, and the pumpkin seeds were even better!
On Friday the boys got to go to the nearby elementary school to watch the costume parade with daddy and their daycare provider. They had so much fun. On Saturday, the high school in our town had a "Monster Bash" and we all went there. It's such a cute set-up. The high school kids put together a bunch of toddler friendly games, and the kids can play for prizes and candy. The boys were so excited to win stuff, and looked adorable in their costumes.
On Sunday - Halloween - Monkey and Spike had their very own entourage for trick or treating. Both sets of grandparents and both uncles came to escort them on the "candy crawl." Monkey had a great time assigning everyone chances to go to the door with him. Even though he doesn't like candy, he got so excited to get the free stuff! The one thing he did eat, however, wes a sucker. This made his whole day!
Spike on the other had loved the candy. In fact, he loved it so much, he kept conning people into giving him bites of many different types of candy, and all unbeknownst to each other. As a result, he threw up about half way through dinner. Just a typical way for this holiday to end for him, poor little guy. (Although 10 minutes after the incident he was asking for more candy...)
One of the boys favorite parts of Halloween is passing out the candy. I think it's safe to say that anyone who came trick-or-treating at our house, left very happy. Spike was actually chasing kids down the sidewalk to give them more candy. And Monkey would stick both hands in the bucket and put heaping handfuls in their bags. It was hilariousl

Spike is hilarious! I love that he tricked everyone into getting bites of their candy - what a stinker!! Sorry he got sick, although it sounds like it didn't stop him from having fun:)

Your boys look so cute! I love the costume choices. I can't believe Monkey doesn't like candy--wow! And poor little Spike. At least the throwing up didn't ruin his day!

The Monster Bash sounds like a blast. I love your little engineer and train conductor. They are such a cute pair...I can't stand it.
ps. that's my girl...drinking a glass of wine while passing out candy. Same here...but it was beer :)
i love their costumes! this is the 1st year both our boys both enjoyed/understood what we were doing too. its so fun when they actaully "get it" and its not just us dragging them around telling them "this is fun! you like this!".

I love reading about all of your Halloween fun! (Except the part about Spike getting sick... that doesn't sound fun at all!) And I think they might just be the cutest pilot and engineer I have ever seen!
Poor Spike! I totally understand though - all the excitement and sugar can do that to the best of us. Both boys look like they had lots of fun!
They are so cute in their costumes! I cannot believe you have a kid who doesn't like candy! Sounds like Spike made up for it - love that he vomited his candy and then wanted more :) Btw, is that wine you're sipping during trick or treating? Niiiice.
