Rewind Thursday - Spike's Birthday and Mother's Day

Get ready - This is going to be a long one:).

My sweet little Spike turned 3 on April 15. He was lucky enough to get to celebrate his birthday 3 times, and enjoyed every second.

Months and months before his birthday, Spike told us he wanted an "Ellie" (elephant) party. He was very clear that he didn't want it to be a zoo party, or a jungle party, just elephants. We finally convinced him that the elephants would want their friends at the party too, since it is almost impossible to find any kind of party supplies that are elephant specific!

My mom hosted the party and helped out with the decorations and delicious dessert. Everything turned out great, and we had so much fun celebrating with friends and family.

Digging for worms was a big hit!

The amazing elephant cupcakes Nonni made.

On Spike's actual birthday, we ended up going out to the boy's favorite restaurant, Flying Buffalo Wings. Of course the boys spent most of the time playing on the video games at the table.

Finally, we celebrated all the April birthday's with Andy's side of the family. There are about 6 people who were born that month, so it's always a big celebration!

The cousins feeding their babies. The birthday boys and girls blowing out their candles.

Mother's Day 2011 was the best yet. I absolutely cherish this holiday. I still remember the way I felt on this day before I had children. It is yet another day that I realize how lucky I am to be the parent of these two amazing little people.

We started out the day at my parent's for breakfast. Then Andy took me on a surprise outing with the boys. We ended up spending the day at Sta*rved Ro*ck State part. We went hiking and had a picnic. It was the perfect day, and I was so happy to spend the time with my family.

Happy Birthday Spike! Love the theme you chose, buddy and I'm glad the elephants' friends could come, too :) Your Mother's Day looks absolutely perfect - a beautiful day in nature with your adorable boys. I love that photo of those two on the bench sitting waaaaaay apart. Cracks me up :)
