Omma

For the first 9 1/2 months of his life, Spike was blessed to have been living with an amazing foster family. Since we brought our son home, we have been lucky enough to have had some contact with them. In the last package we sent to them in Korea, we included our blog address. We recently found out that they have been following our blog. We are so happy that our little boy has this connection with Korea and the amazing people who loved and cared for him while he lived there.

We call his foster mother "Omma" and his foster father "Appa" and still talk about them almost every day. Spike feels a connection to them to, and will often draw pictures for his Omma. He asks to visit her, and write to her, and asked us to frame a picture of her which he will kiss and carry around.

I am so comforted to know he had such an amazing woman and family caring for him in those early months of his life. His Omma is one of the people in Spike's life that I think about constantly, and I will always be grateful to her for what she did for my son.

감사합니다 엄마. 사랑합니다

Oh, that is so special. I love that you talk about Omma every day. No wonder Spike stills thinks about her and kisses her photo. I love it. Here's hoping that one day they will see each other again in person.

What an amazing connection. It sounds like she's still very much in all of your lives... even halfway around the world!
