School

Back to school was a big event in our house this year.  Not only did I return to my teaching job, but Monkey started KINDERGARTEN, and Spike started Pre-K preschool.

Going back to work is always bittersweet for me.  I love teaching, and as a special educator I am lucky enough to work with the same students for a few years in a row.  I enjoy seeing their progress and new skills they learned over the summer.  But, it's no secret that I would love to be a stay at home mom, and it's so hard to leave my boys after spending so much time with them all summer.

This year was especially hard because Monkey started kindergarten.  He's going to my old elementary school, and his teacher is a good friend of one of my coworkers.  Those things make it easier, but I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that my baby is in school.

Spike started pre-k about a 2 weeks ago, and he seems to love it.  I also am having a hard time that this is his last year as a pre-schooler.  They just grow up so fast!

Even though this transition is tough on me, I love watching my boys grow.  Their love of learning, enthusiasm for school, and excitement over new friends has made my heart even fuller than it already was.

I can understand why it's so bittersweet for you. I'm glad everyone's year is off to a great start, though! I loved seeing your boys in their classrooms.

I'm so happy that you are having such a great start to the year! But I can appreciate your mixed feelings. That must be so hard! (And totally random, but I am loving Spike's hair here!)
