Andy and I have a very special bottle of wine that we have been saving for a very special occasion. And it's here...WE GOT THE TRAVEL CALL!!!!! That's right...we are going to get our little Spike. After almost 4 months of waiting, we FINALLY get to meet our baby boy. We couldn't be more excited/nervous/happy/etc. We are leaving Sunday (1/18/09) and returning on Friday (1/23/09).
I can't even begin to describe how much we are feeling right now. We are so blessed to be completing our family with our new son, and words cannot describe how lucky we feel. At the same time I am also thinking of Spike's birthmom and foster mom. Without these two women, our family would not be possible, and we will never take that for granted. Spike will grow up knowing what a courageous decision his birthmom made, and how selfless and loving his foster mom was. I am also aware of the fact that Spike has not had the chance (like we did) to prepare for and dream of this day. He will be confused and sad, and will most likely be grieving the loss of the only family he has ever known. However, we hope he will feel how much we love him from the start, and will patiently wait for him to attach to us. I know that Spike and Monkey will be so glad to have each other.
So, as Andy and I share our glass(es) of wine tonight, I will be thinking of the wonderful future we are creating for our family. I look forward to sharing our journey with all of you. I plan to post as often as possible while we are in Korea. Thank you to everyone for being such a great support group. We love you!

I am so happy for you! I remember meeting you for the first time in April at the LL parent class we had to take and everything seemed like it was so far away then. We were all just beginning our journeys last April.
Now, here you are getting packed for your trip to Korea to bring your son home and complete your family. It is hard to put the happiness I feel for you right now in words. I wish I could give you a big hug!
Have the trip of a lifetime! Enjoy every second of Korea and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post while you are there so we can live vicariously!!!
