We're Here!

I have definitely been neglecting this blog (and everyone else's) the past few weeks. At school we have been preparing for IS*ATS. These are the state standardized tests that all students in certain grades have to take in Illinois. Because I am a special education teacher, there is some scheduling and extra practice involved, so I have been consumed. This week the kids will actually be taking the tests, and once that is over, I will feel like I can breathe again.

By this point, I have accepted the fact (on most days) that I am a full-time working mama. But it's weeks like these past few that are tough. When I feel like I can't give my all at being a teacher or mommy or wife, I get frustrated with myself. So, I am going to try to focus again on doing the best I can, and get through this upcoming week.

We have been having some fun at home though! Here is an update in photos.

Our local adoption group had a huge Lunar New Year Celebration. Monkey was home sick, so it was a great chance for me and Spike to spend some alone time together. We had such a good time!

Spike LOVED the dragon performance. I couldn't get him away from the costumes!

And of course, he really enjoyed all of the different Asian foods too. This boy can EAT!

I just love this picture of Daddy and Spike taking a nap together. It melts my heart!

Monkey has officially transitioned into a big boy bed. It's exciting, but I admit I was a little teary when we converted. I just can't believe he's so big already!

We have been enjoying the milder temperatures outside. Daddy took the boys "rock climbing!" They had a great time.

When we are inside, we've been getting creative! The boys set up their own forts in the living room. Here is Monkey taking care of his baby (before he throws it across the room)...

...and here is Spike in his homeade pillow fort.

Glad to hear/see you guys again! Ugh, the ISATs... I'm quite familiar with those :( They seem really early? In any case, glad you guys are still here! :)

i remember taking the ISATs! it must be so hard to balance all 3 roles, especially since i find it hard most weeks to balance my 2 roles. i'm sure you are looking forward to summer!

yay for Monkey for being in a big boy bed - but sniff, sniff for mama!

I can't even imagine how hard it must be to be a working mom. I'm only working one day a week ( Saturdays) right now, and I have a hard time balancing everything! Looks to me like you have two very happy kiddos, so you must be doing things right! And love the napping photo of Daddy and Spike. They look very cozy. :)

So many great photos! Forts are a huge hit in my house too (especially in winter)!
Best of luck getting through this busy time!

Your boys are always having such good ole' fashioned BOY fun! Love it!
BTW, we have that same chair (in that color!) that dad and monkey were snoozing on.

Glad to see you! Hope the testing goes well (and quickly). The photos are great. Love the boys napping together and the one of Monkey before he throws his baby across the room - hee, hee.

And I can't even imagine what it's like to put X in a big boy bed! Wow!
