Today is Spike's 3rd birthday. I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. My baby isn't a baby anymore...he's an actual tiny person, and I can't wrap my head around it.
We have been lucky enough to be able to celebrate all of Spike's birthday's since he was one. Each year I have been amazed at how much he's grown in so many areas. He is truly a beautiful little boy inside and out, and has made our lives so much better.
I can't help but think of all of Spike's mother's on this important day. My heart goes out to his foster mom who took amazing care of him for the first 9 months of his life. She gave him all her love knowing that he was going to eventually leave, and I don't even know how to begin to thank her for that. And my heart breaks for his birth mother. A day that is such a celebration for us, is most likely filled with different emotions for her. I can't even find the words to convey how I feel about her, so I'm not going to try. I only know that I think of her constantly and think she is an amazing woman. On Spike's birthday, we will do something special to honor both these women.
Spike is an amazing little boy who has grown so much over the past year! He is a smart, persistent, inquisitive, hilarious, and fearless little boy. I treasure every second I get to spend with him. Although it's almost unbelievable how quickly time passes, I am thoroughly enjoying watching him grow into a little person. I am so incredibly lucky to have been blessed with this little boy, and I am looking forward to celebrating his life on this day.
