Week in Review

Well, I feel like it's been a little while since I've posted updates of any kind, so I'm going to pack it all in. It's been a pretty busy week and a half around our house...

Last weekend, (during the monsoon) I ran a half marathon in Chicago. It was by far the most miserable race I've done, but at the same time rewarding. I guess when you truly have to struggle to accomplish something, it makes it that much more worth it in the end. Hmmm...a lesson I'm going to remember through this whole adoption process too. Anyway, I actually did a little better than I expected since I think I was in a hurry to get out of the rain. Good news the day of... not so good for my aching legs and feet the rest of the week!

Here I am wet and soggy after the race!

Then on Wednesday, we got our DCFS Illinois foster license in the mail. During this time of waiting, it's nice to get these reminders that our paperwork is still out there, and things are still moving along. Wednesday was also Andy's birthday, so we had a very low key family celebration. Monkey's new favorite song is Happy Birthday, and he likes to sing it continuously. He also asks for cake, although he won't actually eat it when you give it to him. He definitely does NOT get that from me!

We also bought Monkey a tool set to play with. He LOVES it. He likes to run around the house fixing nails, using his screwdriver, and hammering anything in his path. Here he is modeling his safetly goggles. Hilarious!

Over the weekend we went to a birthday party for our "nephew" at a place with all of those bouncy jumpers and slides. Monkey loved it. He also loved his Uncle Chris who picked him up and bounced with him, and had a new best friend for life. Monkey keeps asking, "Call Uncle Chris, Bounce Uncle Chris." We even heard him saying it when he was in bed before he fell asleep. So cute!

Today Monkey is at the pumpkin farm with Nonna and his friends from daycare. I am so jealous, but glad he is having a good time. His Meemaw went with him too, and I'm happy he gets to do these kinds of things with both of them.

That's our news for now. Who knows what the next week will bring!
