Surprises

We've had a few really great things happen in the last few weeks, and I just wanted to share them here.

We got a call out of the blue one day that Spike's foster mother had sent him a package. I burst into tears as soon as I heard. I know that his foster mom loved him dearly and took the best care of him. I just wasn't sure if she was the type of person to keep contact after placement. We have sent her a few packages of pictures, and were happy knowing that she would be able to see how our little guy was growing. But when we found out that she had sent him something, I realized how important it actually was to me for my son. It is overwhelming to know that someone half a world away still loves him and realizes how special he is. And I am so glad Spike will have at least one letter and keepsake from the amazing woman who cared for him for 9 months. The sweetest part was that she included a gift for Monkey as well. What a beautiful and caring gesture. I didn't think I could appreciate her any more than I already did, but wow!

We also (FINALLY) got our scrolls from Korea framed. This has been a long process, and we waited a long time because of the expense. Then the woman who took the measurements and ordered our frames measured incorrectly. So basically we didn't know when we'd see our beautiful Korean artwork again. Apparently they called Andy to tell him they were ready and he had them waiting at home for me to see. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out, and I love how it brings back memories of our trip to Korea. One picture has Spike's name and the date written in Hangul, and the other has Monkey's.

Just a few more reasons to be thankful!
